EKETAHUNA

CROQUET SEASON OFFICIALLY CLOSED. ("Times-Age” Special.) The official closing of the croquet lawns for the season took place on Saturday afternoon in good weather. Honorary members and many visitors from Woodville, Mauriceville and Masterton were present. The greens were in good order. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion and much enjoyed. The table was decorated with a large bowl of autumn tinted hydrangeas in various shades. Miss A. Anderson welcomed the visitors and members and expressed pleasure at seeing them present. The winners of the competitions were: Angles, Mrs Kingdon, Masterton; umbrella, Mrs McCarthy, Woodville; hurry scurry, Mesdames Halpin and McCarthy, Woodville, runners-up. Mrs Thompson and Richardson; hitting the peg, Mrs McMaster, Masterton. runner-up, Mrs Guest. The club champion is Mrs Hart. Twenty minutes’ competition played for during the year were won by Mrs Elms, Miss Anderson, Miss A. Anderson.

RED CROSS SOCIETY CARD PARTY. The fortnightly Flag 500 party was held by the sub-centre of the Red Cross Society in the Anglican Hall on Sat-, urday evening. There was a very large attendance. The room was nicely decorated with pompom dahlias and red berries. Mr M. Priest (president) conducted the games, and presented the prizes to the following winners: Mrs Fauvel, Misses E. Simmers and G. Gallagher and Mr Anders Olsen. Supper was served by a ladies’ committee. ' Personal Items. Mr C. Reardon, Wellington, has been on 1 , a visit to his mother, Mrs C. Reardon, Parkville. Mrs Richardson, Lower Hutt, is the guest of Mrs Elms, Stanley Street. Messrs Wilkie and Barrie Anderson have returned home after having spent Easter in Auckland.
