WAR IN PACIFIC

SURVEY BY MEMBER FOR DISTRICT. ADDRESSES TO FARMERS AND OTHERS. A survey of the Pacific war situation, with particular reference to New Zealand’s position, was given at yesterday’s meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union and some members of the executive of the Women’s Division, by Mr J. Robertson, M.P., on the lines of addresses recently given by him to the Masterton Rotary Club and the Home Guard. The address was taken in committee.

In moving a vote of thanks to Mr Robertson, Mr L. T. Daniell said he thought, after having heard Mr Robertson, that they could regard the situation as being well handled and that the address had given them a feeling of confidence.

Seconding the motion, Mrs C. C. Jackson said Mr Robertson had given a great deal of information about matters which many had not felt over sure. It was heartening to hear that something definite was being done. The motion was carried by acclamation. A; similar address was given by Mr Robertson last night to members of the Masterton Borough Council and the Masterton, Mauriceville and Castlepoint County Councils. Tonight Mr Robertson is to address the Eketahuna Borough and the Eketahuna County Councils.
