Mrs R. Bell, Chapel Street, Masterton, is visiting her aunt, Mrs Wallace, of Trentham. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, AttorneyGeneral, returned to Wellington today from Auckland. The Hon. J. G. Barclay, Minister of Marketing, returned to Wellington last night from a visit to Hawke’s Bay. The Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Public Works, will leave Wellington tomorrow night for the South Island. The engagement is announced of Mary Brown, only daughter of Mr and Mrs B. Robertson, Carterton, to Arthur de Maine, eldest son of Mrs Bird, Petone. The Government has decided to recall Mr F. R. Picot from his present appointment as New Zealand member on the Eastern Group Supply Council at New Delhi, where he has been for the past 12 months, and to appoint him to be the New Zealand senior supply officer in Australia. This announcement was made last night by the Minister of Supply and Munitions, Mr Sullivan. The Minister added that Mr Inglis, who had been working with Mr Pictet in New Delhi, would act as New Zealand member of the council till a successor to Mr Picot was appointed.
