An extraordinary Grand Jury & for the investigation of graft has uncovered the greatest corruption scandal in the history of the New York police. It has sent six presentments to the Supreme Court alleging that 49 policemen consistently accepted a bribe of about 1,000,000 dollars annually from a gigantic gambling ring, which netted 100,000,000 dollars a year. The presentments are accompanied by 200 photographs purporting to show policemen consorting with gamblers, frequenting gambling hideouts, and also accepting bribes from their seats in radio-cars.
The Special Assistant Attorney-Gen-eral said that the revelations would necessitate a total reshuffling of the Brooklyn police.
