SOLDIERS’ CONCERT

OPERA HOUSE TOMORROW NIGHT. An excellent entertainment that should appeal to a large number of the public is to be presented in the Masterton Opera House tomorrow evening by a Soldiers’ Concert Party, in aid of the Patriotic Fund. Masterton and district residents will welcome the opportunity of enjoying contributions by soldier artists, many of whom have outstanding qualifications. Tomorrow night’s programme will include a wide variety of entertaining items that should prove to be very popular. Among the performers will be Sergeant Maxwell Fcrnie, a wellknown Wellington pianist and organist, conductor of the Jubilee Choir of 203 voices; Lieutenant Tressider, the wide-ly-known tenor who has broadcast from 2YA; Corporal Max Smith, of Eketahuna, a baritone; Drivers Gemmell and Shirran, vocalists; Sergeant Strickett, conjuror; Driver Ward, mouth organ soloist; Lance-Corporal Dunn, monologue; Trooper Ross, Spanish guitar and yodelling, and Sapper Zami, piano accordeon. Items will also be given by a Maori party. Bookings of seats are heavy and patrons should lose no further time in reserving their seats.
