WASTE PAPER SALVAGE

BRITAIN'S NATIONAL CAMPAIGN. The national waste-paper salvage contest to stimulate collection in every part of Britain of paper for use in the manufacture- of munitions has been a conspicuous success. No fewer than 1234 cities, towns, and villages partook and the total amount of paper salvaged was 94,421 tons. With the addition of collections made by non-competing local authorities, the grand total for January was more than 100,000 tons — a record salvage effort. The conclusion of the contest does not mean that the vitally important task of saving waste paper is ended.
