SUCCESSES AGAINST JAPAN FREIGHTER & TWO TANKERS SUNK. WASHINGTON OFFICIAL REPORT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.25 p.m.) RUGBY, April 6. That the American Navy is attacking Japan on her own ground is indicated by a Washington naval communique which states:—“A United States submarine reports the sinking of an enemy freighter while on an extended patrol in Japanese waters. In the south-west Pacific, another submarine reports that it sank two heavily-laden Japanese tankers, in waters near .the Caroline Islands, during an extended patrol. The submarine was fired on by one tanker, but escaped without damage. These sinkings had not previously been reported.
