THREE ENEMY SHIPS SUNK BY AMERICAN SUBMARINES. IN JAPANESE WATERS & NEAR CAROLINE ISLANDS. LONDON, April 6. American'submarines, a Washington Navy Department communique states, have sunk an enemy cargo ship in Japanese waters and two heavily-laden tankers near the Caroline Islands. This makes the total number of enemy ships sunk or damaged by American forces 79, in addition to 56 warships.
