The assault was stopped after hard fighting, in which the enemy suffered heavy losses and failed to extend the slight gains made on . Saturday. A Japanese dive-bomber was shot down. For the second night in succession the enemy attempted to land fresh troops on the shore of Manila Bay, but the American shore batteries prevented a landing.
