PERSONAL
Miss Olive Newell, Wellington, is visiting Masterton. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates arrived at Wellington yesterday from Auckland. Miss Esme Crow, Wellington, is staying at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Masterton. Mr G. W. C. Drake, has been appointed principal of the Otahuhu Technical High School. Six members of the Parliamentary Labour Party are serving with the armed forces, according to the report of the national conference in Wellington yesterday. Lieutenant C. F. Skinner (Motueka), and Sergeant R. M. Macfarlane (Christchurch South) are overseas, while Captain T. H. McCombs (Lyttelton), Lieutenant J. B. Cotterill (Wanganui), and Private C. Carr (Timaru) are serving in the Dominion. A welcome was given to Leading Air-; craftmail A. F. Moncur (Rotorua.) on his safe return to New Zealand after serving in Malaya. Reference was made to the deaths on active .service of Captain W. J. Lyon (Waitemata), and Lieutenant A. G. Hultquist (Bay of Plenty).
