CATHOLIC CLUBS
NORTH ISLAND DISTRICT EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE IN MASTERTON. NO COMPETITIONS THIS YEAR. z The annual conference of the North Island District Executive of the Federated Catholic Clubs and Societies of New Zealand was held in Masterton over the weekend. Delegates representing the Marists Bros., Old Boys’ Association, Wellington; Catholic Club, Hamilton; Catholic Club, Hastings; Masterton Catholic Club and Hibernian Society, Master ton, were present. Apologies for non-attendance were received from the Leonine Club, Wellington, and the Catholic clubs at Napier and Ngaio. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. Owing to the ranks of the various clubs and societies throughout the North Island being depleted through members serving with the overseas forces it was found impossible for the various clubs to arrange teams for the competitive contests that are usually held in conjunction with the conference and the competitions were therefore abandoned this year. ■ The election or officers resulted as follows; —President, Mr W. C. Orange; vice-president, Mr S. Herbert; secre-tary-treasurer, Mr J. F. McDonald, all of Masterton; committee, Messrs J. Connors, D. B. Curry, B. Brady, J. Curry, J. Sutherland (Masterton), Mrs J. Murphy (Wellington), Miss E. O'Donoughue (Hastings) and Miss M. Diggins. The Easter Conference and competitions next year will be held at Hastings.
