The Hon A. H. Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, returned to Wellington today from the north. The Rt Hon P. Fraser, Prime Minister, will return to Wellington from Auckland tomorrow. The Hon F. Jones, Minister of Defence, will return to Wellington from the South Island tomorrow. Advice has been received by Mr and Mrs P. Dixon, Renall Street, Masterton, that their son, Pilot Officer M-. W. Dixon, is safe and well. The engagement is announced of Phyllis Jean, only daughter of the late Mr and Mrs H. M. Wilton, of Masterton, to William John, eldest son of Mr and Mrs H. J. Cooper, Opaki Road, Masterton. The death occurred recently of Mr W. A. Pavitt, Henderson, Auckland. Early in his life Mr Pavitt joined the Assets Realisation Board, and became a member of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand when the board was taken over by the bank. He retired in 1934. All his life Mr Pavitt was interested in sport, and for many years was a member of the United Hockey Club, Wellington, and later of the Papakura Tennis Club and Manakau Golf Club. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, Messrs H. H. Pavitt, Masterton, and O. E. Pavitt, and two sisters.
