RUSSIA’S HOMELESS
FLOW OF RED CROSS GIFTS FROM BRITISH DOMINIONS & OTHER COUNTRIES. PRACTICAL EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 30. The recent arrival is reported from Russia of a large consignment of clothes, medicines and provisions from the Australian Red Cross.. Numerous bales and cases contained hundreds of children’s woollen suits, large quantities of tinned food, milk powder, cocoa, butter, and other products. The majority of the parcels bore inscriptions expressing sympathy with the Soviet Union. Brigadier Doctor Divakov, vicechairman of the Executive Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of Russia, said recent reports indicated that large numbers of people in both hemispheres were taking part in the collection of presents for wounded Red Army men, and the homeless populations of the areas plundered by the Germans. About 40 tons of chocolate and large quantities of various articles of wearing apparel have lately been received from the Argentine. Parcels have also been received from New Zealand and other countries.
