(Notes by “THE BOWLER.”) Last season was the first occasion on which the mid-week bowlers competed for what is known as the McCullough Trophies. The trophies were donated by Mrs McCullough and her sons in memory of the late Mr William McCullough, an old respected member of the Masterton’Club. This season’s competition was completed yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for that popular bowler, George Blane, with a score of eleven wins. The next in order were Doughty, 9 wins, and J. Skeet and’E. Reid, 8 wins each.
“George” was heartily congratulated by every bowler on the green.. Age does not prevent bowlers from winning competitions. Last season the trophy was won by A. Hendry, and this season by George Blane, both these players being well over 80 years of age.
