WEST SCHOOL
MISS MARTIN RETIRES. PRESENTATIONS FROM STAFF AND CHILDREN. Yesterday afternoon the children and staff of the Masterton West School assembled to bid farewell to Miss A. M. Martin, who had been infant mistress at the school since 1936 and has now retired. On behalf of the children, Don Irving, of Form 11., wished Miss Martin a very long and happy future. Shirley Chesterman, of Primer Four, then made her a presentations of a crystal jug set and goblets. The staff subsequently entertained Miss Martin at afternoon tea and presented her with an afternoon tea cup and plate. Mr J. P. Farrell, headmaster, in making the presentation, said that Miss Martin could retire with feelings of the greatest satisfaction knowing that she had given of her very best right up to the last day at schooLMiss Martin, in replying, stated that her associations with the Masterton West School, in which she had spent the happiest days of her teaching career, thanks to the friendliness and comradeship of the pupils and staff, would be among her treasured memories. Loving flowers she much appreciated the dainty posies arranged by Mrs R. Stidolph.
