Donation of Shawl.

Mrs A. Bell, of Worksop, Road, kindly donated a beautiful shawl to “John Bull” for the benefit of his soldiers. The ladies at the shelter had this shawl on display in connection with a competition yesterday. The competition was won by Mrs F. Townsend. Patriotic Appeal. “John Bull” has noticed particularly the number of callers who have sons, husbands or boy friends overseas. Yesterday’s callers included one with three sons overseas and one with four sons and a daughter. Business yesterday was quiet but visits such as these put “John Bull” in good heart. Drivers’ Licences. Nine drivers’ licences were issued by the Masterton Borough Council in March, making the total for the licensing year 2245. In March, 1941, sixteen licences were issued and the total was 2382. The Masterton County Council issued one drivers’ licence last month, bringing the total to 1183, as against five and 1263 respectively in March, 1941. Air Training Corps. All boys between 16 and 18 and parents interested in the Air Training Corps are invited to be present at the Y.M.C.A. Rooms tonight at 7 o’clock. Flight-Sergeant P. Avery and Cadet L. H. Ellis, who are visiting Masterton in connection with the formation of a town unit of the corps, will meet applicants and intending applicants and explain the scheme. ■
