ENEMY COLUMN WITH TANKS DRIVEN BACK BY FREE FRENCH. TWO AXIS PLANES BROUGHT , DOWN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY. March 29. Today’s Middle East war communique states: “Yesterday a Free French column engaged an enemy column, including seven tanks, some miles east of Mekili and forced them to withdraw. “During the day our troops brought down one German and one Italian aircraft.”
