ENEMY FARES BADLY
IN SEVENTH AIR RAID ON DARWIN SEVERAL PLANES DESTROYED. SUCCESSFUL ALLIED ATTACK ON TIMOR. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Marbh 29. A Royal Australian Air Force communique announced that Darwin' was raided for-the seventh time shortly after noon yesterday. Seven Japanese bombers participated in the raid, and bombs were dropped, but no material damage has so far been reported. Our fighters took off and intercepted the enemy aircraft. There were no casualties. It is announced today that out of the seven raiders, two were shot down, with another probable and a fourth possible, without loss to the defenders. Port Moresby was raided yesierday morning for the twenty-first time. The Japanese lost two planes during dogfights, while one of ours was shot down by three enemy fighters. Only four bombs were dropped. Our aircraft made a successful attack on Japanese shipping and flyingboats at Koepang, Timor, on March 27. A direct hit was scored on a 7000-ton vessel, which was left burning fiercely, and a near-miss probably destroyed a flying-boat on the water. Anti-aircraft fire was encountered, but enemy aircraft did not attempt to intercept, and all our planes returned.
