GREYTOWN
GIRL GUIDES ENROLMENT CEREMONY. (“Times-Age” Special.) An enrolment ceremony took place in the Scout and Guide Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs C. Bidwill, district Girl Guide commissioner, performed the ceremony. The girls enrolled as Brownies were Judith York and Beth Stuart. Those who received first-year Service Stars were: Alyson Robb and Margaret Maloney. Noeline Morgan received her second year Service Star. The Brownies who “flew up” to Guides were: Rachel York, Alice Maranui, Marjorie Orr, Beverley Burns, Anne McPhee and Merle Nichols. Gwen Reid was enrolled as leader of the Kiwi Patrol. The following ladies were appointed to the committee: Mesdames J. Reid, H. McPhee, A. Nichols, A. Nisbet, F. Dewhurst and H. Bayliss. Each member received a Guide Badge. A , Mrs Bidwill addressed the Guides and Brownies and laid stress on the letters V.C. which meant to a Guide “Victory” and “Comradeship.”
TOWN LANDS TRUST MEMBERS RE-ELECTED. Messrs F. Donnes and H. G. Carter have been re-elected members of the Greytown Town Lands Trust for a further term. Bonds for Bombers. The total sales to date of bonds for bombers at the Greytown Post Office amounted to £3OO. At a special meeting of the Greytown Town Lands Trustees last evening it was decided to purchase 500 bonds for bombers. Personal. • Superintendent J. Wood, of Greytown, is attending the United Fire Brigades’ Association Conference in Wellington. Greytown Remit Adopted. A remit from the Greytown Fire Brigade, “that auxiliary firemen who eventually join up with the Fire Brigade be credited with the honours of the United Fire Brigades’ Association,” was adopted by the Fire Brigades’ Conference now sitting in Wellington. TOWN HALL TOMORROW NIGHT’S PROGRAMME “The Son of Monte Cristo,” featuring Louis Hayward, Jean Bennett and George Sanders, and telling an exciting story, will head the programme tomorrow night.
