FRENCH SAILORS
EXECUTED IN MOROCCO. ATTEMPT TO DIVERT SHIP TO BRITAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) VICHY, March 24. Two French sailors have been executed in Oran for attempting to divert their ship when it was passing through the Straits of Gibraltar in order to give it to the British. A third man was sentenced by a court-martial to 10 years’ penal servitude. The sailors fired four shots at the captain, who was wounded. The sailors temporarily gained control of the ship, but the captain succeeded in escaping from the bridge and giving orders to the engine-room. The sailors’ plans were finally defeated by the intervention of escort ships.
