ENEMY U=BOATS
MAY OPERATE IN GULF OF ST LAWRENCE. VICE-ADMIRAL’S PREDICTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11 a.m.) OTTAWA, March 24. Vice-Admiral Percy Nelles, Chief of the Naval Staff, predicted that German submarines will operate in the Gulf of St Lawrence this summer and place a supply ship there. Admiral Nelles said Canadian aircraft could eliminate the daring U-boats, but it would be hard to keep them out entirely of such a large sheet of water.
