BALANCE OF DAMAGE

AGAINST THE JAPANESE SINCE THEY CAME TO NEW GUINEA. EFFECT OF INCESSANT ATTACKS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) RUGBY, March 23. Australian messages report that' little damage was done and there were no casualties in today’s Japanese air raid on Port Moresby, which is reported to have been the heaviest yet made. Nineteen Japanese bombers and four fighters took part. One fighter was destroyed. Another is believed to have been destroyed and a third damaged. A Sydney report says that since the Japanese came to New Guinea, two months ago, they have suffered more damage than they have been able to inflict. A correspondent estimates Japanese aircraft losses at more than 100 and ship losses at fifty of all types. Ihcessant Allied attacks have interfered with Japanese efforts to build up strength for a blow against Australia.
