SALVATION ARMY

HARVEST FESTIVAL. CELEBRATION IN MASTERTON. The annual Harvest Festival held by the Masterton Salvation Army in the citadel was conducted by Adjutant Packer and Lieutenant Dutton, of Carterton. The citadel was tastefully decorated and there was a splendid display of fruit, vegetables, etc. . The afternoon service for which the children were responsible, under the direction of Mrs Brigadier Perry and Sergeant Major Mrs Wyllie, was well attended. Features of this service were the bringing in by the children of beautifully decorated baskets, anc two tableaux representing harvest themes. On the following night an excellent musical programme was rendered under the direction of Brigadier Perry. Among the items were the following: Pianoforte solos, Lieutenant Dutton and Miss Jean Perry: pianoforte duet, Miss J. Perry and Miss J. Ransom; vocal solos, Mrs D. Perry and Lieutenant Dutton; elocutionary items, Mrs Hoarc and Miss Joan Ransom; vocal duet, Mrs Brigadier Perry and Mrs Hoare. Several much appreciated numbers were given by the band. At the close of the entertainment a successful sale of produce was held. Major and Mrs Ransom thanked those who had helped at the festival.
