GREYTOWN

ATHLETIC SPORTS ANNUAL SCHOOL GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was fine weather for the annual sports of the Greytown District High School. Thanks to the splendid co-operation of all the staff, a programme of one hundred events was got off under two hours, the only remaining events to be contested being the jumps. Whether these will affect the House points or not is looked forward to keenly, the position at present being: Moa 137, Huia 136, Kiwi 128, Tui 113. Moa House, however, is assured of holding the sports cup. The officials for the meeting were: Starter, Mr S. C. Shedden; judges, Mr M. McWhimp and Misses V. Gordon and F. Oxford; recorders, Misses E. I. Stephens, I. Askew, C. G. Keddell, and W. Harding; controller, Mr G. ,S. Maloney. CHAMPIONSHIPS. In the primary section championship events resulted as follows: Girls’ 75yds: Eileen Hutchings 1, Nura Brooks 2, Joan McGregor 3. Boys’ 75yds: Roger Brooks 1, Earle York 2, John Matthews 3. Boys’ 100 yds: Roger Brooks 1, Earle York 2, John Matthews 3. Girls’ 50yds: Eileen Hutchings 1, Nura Brooks 2, Phyllis Higgison 3. Relay races, boys: Moa 1, Tui 2, Kiwi 3; girls, Moa 1, Huia 2, Tui 3. OTHER EVENTS. Other running events were won by R. Galyer, J. Hammond, B. Hutchings, B. McCarty, G. Farley, M. Morison, Ivan Gray, Josephine Rosengrave, T. Orr, Lena Kar, J. Terry, Noeline Morgan, R. Lyster, Shirley Innes, Beverley Burns, Roger Brooks, Roka Rewi, Alan Terry, Eileen Hutchings, C. Sadler, N. Brooks, V. Strang, N. Sugrue, A. Peterson, B. Olliver, K. Alexander, N. Morgan, R. Whimp, H. Morison, M. Maloney, C. Brooks, J. Crawford, B. Ming, J. Olliver, Fay Ross, Nura Brooks, L. MorisOn, H. Matthews, Lena Hay, Betty Oliver and R. Rewi. Town Lands Trust. Nominations are invited for two trustees in connection with the Greytown Town Lands Trust. The retiring trustees are Messrs F. Dennes and H. G. Carter. TOWN HALL TOMORROWS PROGRAMME. There will be a double feature programme tomorrow night—“ One Night in the Tropics” (featuring Allan Jones and Nancy Kelly) and “Durango Kid” (starring Charles Starrett).
