(Notes by “The Bowler.”) The final of the champion fours of the Masterton Bowling Club, was played on Saturday afternoon between J. V. Gordon, F. Percy, W. Reid and W. Hendry (s) and H. Thomas, Wylie, Stubbings and E. Reid (s). W. Reid took over the position of. skip and W. Hendry played No. 3. The game was an interesting one, which concluded in a win for Hendry’s team. At the conclusion of the match, the club’s president, Mr H. H. Daniell, congratulated both teams on their fine display of bowling. A large number of bowlers watched the final, and they were not disappointed, as each player in the teams did his share, and there were some fine heads. I congratulate Hendry’s team on their success, and I must also congratulate E. Reid's team on their good bowling. Hendry’s team were always a few up, but Reid’s team played a good uphill game, and at the 17th head, Reid was only one down. The details are as follow: —On the sth head the score board showed, Hendry 7, Reid 2, but Reid in the next 3 heads, improved his position, and at the Bth head was only 2 down. The scores at the 14th head, showed Hendry with a lead of 5 points, but in the next 3 heads Reid put on 5 points and Hendry 1, the scores at the 17th head being Hendry 15, Reid 14. The next 3 heads went in favour of Hendry, and when the 20th head had been played Hendry was 5 up. In the last end Hendry scored a single, leaving his team winners by 6 points. Hendry’s rink will now represent the Masterton Club in the Wairarapa champion of champion rinks, and I know that they have the best wishes of the Masterton Club bowlers for their success.

April 4, and on the Park green on Monday, April 6, and are asked to place their names on the board. It was decided at a meeting of the committee that the greens would be closed for the season after play on April 12. During the week members of the Masterton Club paid a return visit to the Park Club, and a friendly afternoon’s play resulted. It is the club’s desire that interchange of friendly visits should be more frequent, thereby fostering the good fellowship that exists between the two clubs.
