TERRITORIAL SERVICE APPEALS HEARD. SITTING OF MANPOWER COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Appeals principally in respect to married men called up for service in the recent ballot were dealt with by the Wairarapa Manpower Committee at sittings held yesterday in Carterton, Martinborough and Featherston. There were present, the chairman, Mr T. Jordan, and Messrs F. Cole and L. T. Daniell, members of the committee and Mr G. F. Whitlock, secretary and Crown representative. Thomas); William Wong, fruiterer (reservist); Charles W. FI. Zabell, farmer (reservist); Eric E. Pearce, farmhand (W. H. Pearce), overseas enlistment, reservist to undergo three months’ Territorial training in May, June and July, 1942; John H. Roach, farm manager (Trustees Est. H. Spooner); Gordon 0. Sutherland, farmer (reservist); Henry T. G. Hudson, agricultural worker (H. T. Parsons); Francis M. McAnulty, cheese factory manager (Tawaha Co-op. Southey, farmer (reservist), reservist to undergo three months’ Territorial training in May, Juno and July, 1942); Ivan H. L. Smith, farmhand (L. G. Hood, cheesemaker (Greytown Co-op. Dairy Co.), until March 31; Grant Hood, cheesemaker (Greytown Co-op. Dairy Co.), until April 30; Basil E. O’Neale, cheesemaker (Greytown Co-op. Dairy Co.), until April 30; Richard A. Western, sheepfarm hand (J. A. McLeod), until April 30; Ernest A. Rodewald, farmhand and shearer (reservist), until June 16; Charles E. Surtees, shepherd (Director of National Service), until April 30; Ronald J. Murphy, labourer (Director of National Service), until April 30; John Brodersen, farmhand (Allen Donald Ltd.), until June 30. Appeal dismissed: Walter G. Juno, labourer (Fenwick Bros.). Appeals adjourned: William J. Saywell, working farm manager (W. A. Say well), until May 31; Quentin Donald, farmer (reservist), until April 30; John W. Sinclair, dairy farmer (Lower Valley Co-op.
