REGENT THEATRE
"BARNACLE BILL.” With Wallace Beery and Marjorie Main sparring all the way through, “Barnacle Bill,” which will be shown tonight, is a picture full of robust comedy and laughable situations. Rub-ber-faced Beery as Bill, as usual, fits the part of a chronically-lazy launchowner like a glove, and his dislike for work and his passion for dollars lead him into all sorts of trouble. And it is faithful Marge who gets him out of it, sometimes with her boot. Bill’s daughter (Virginia Weidler) arrives, and between them Marge and Virginia set out to make something of the good-for-no-thing loafer. Before he has time to realise it he is the skipper of a schooner, but his ambition to sail to the South Seas with umbrellas for the natives is squashed.
