OPAKI

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Opaki Women’s Institute was held at the home of Mrs Harris, Oaklea, Opaki, when the president, Mrs Beetham, presided over a satisfactory attendance. The report detailed the activities of the Institute during the past year. It was considered satisfactory by members in view of the difficulties experienced at the present time. All the usual regular meetings were held, transport difficulties having been largely overcome by the cO-operation of members. The officers for the coming year were elected as follows: —President, Mrs A. Beetham; vice-presidents, Mrs Wingate and Mrs Harris; secretary and treasurer, Miss Robinson; committee, Mesdames Buick, Malmo, Miller, Wyeth, Rayner and Miss lorns. The points prizes for the past year were presented by the president as follows:—Best bloom (Mrs Wingate’s prizes), Mrs Rayner 1, Mrs Malmo 2, Miss lorns 3. Home industries (Mrs Harris’s prizes), Mrs Rayner 1, Miss lorns 2, Mrs Buick 3. The president was asked to accept a little gift in recognition of the enjoyable meetings held under her presidency. A puzzle competition was won by Mrs Marchbanks and Miss Cooper. A bring and buy stall did good business. The April meeting will be held at Mrs Beetham’s home.
