SALE AT PONGAROA. IMPROVEMENT IN PRICES. The Associated Auctioneers report on their second sheep sale held at Pongaroa on Saturday, as follows: The yarding came forward well in excess of advertised numbers and attracted a large and representative attendance of buyers from Southern Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Pahiatua, Eketahuna and all the surrounding districts. Competition was keen and prices showed an improvement in values to those ruling at sales in neighbouring districts. Ewes were in good demand and any lines showing quality were readily sold, while good condition lambs also met with keen demand. Two and 4th wethers met with spirited competition and made fiom £1 to 21s 6d.
