APPEALS HEARD
SITTING OF MANPOWER COMMITTEE ... ...- MEN CALLED UP IN RECENT BALLOT. MANY ADJOURNMENTS MADE. A sitting of the 7B Manpower Committee was held in Masterton today to deal principally with appeals arising out of the recent ballot calling up married men without children. There were present: Messrs T. Jordan (chairman), L. T. Daniell and F. Cole, committee members and Mr G. F. Whitlock, secretary and Crown representative. Adjournments sine die were granted in the following cases:—Appeals lodged by the Wairarapa Electric Power Board—W. S. Willett, power house engineer; A. H. Thomas, M. Clark, linesmen; C. K. Clarke, D. G. Perrin, meter readers. The last named adjournment was subject to reservist serving with the Home Guard. Appeal lodged by Alex. M. McPhee in respect to Archibald H. McPhee, farmer. J. M. Jury Senr., for J. M. Jury Junr., farmhand. John E. Broad, sheepfarmer, own appeal. Lodged by Trustees Est. J. W. A. Falloon for Terence H. Falloon and Douglas J. Falloon, farmhands. Trustees Est. A. W. I. Cameron for Frederick T. Pain, shepherd. George Shaw for Eric George Shaw, farm manager. Ross Trevor Woollams, pharmaceutical chemist, own appeal. Gordon Coleman for lan Douglas Howie, farm manager. Helen Christina Macßae for Alasdair John Macßae, farm manager.
Masterton Fire Board for Norman Bruce, deputy superintendent. Mary Anne Clarke, for Robert Nathaniel Clarke, farmer. Douglas John Cooper,, dairy farmer, own appeal. C. E. Daniell Ltd., for victor Roy Harrod, bushman. Rimu Sawmills (Mt. Bruce) Ltd., for S. E. Gibbs. Appeal dismissed, service postponed to May 31, John M. Jury Senr. in respect to C. F. Baildon, farmhand. The following appeals in respect io freezing works employees, lodged by the Director of National Service, were adjourned until June 30, 1942: F. W. Clear, J. D. Bolton, W. A. Hood, R. J. Munro, O. L. Gaskin, C. H. Skeet, C. Gillon, A. D. Shrimpton, D. H. Welch. The following, also lodged by the Director of National Service, were dealt with as indicated: Adjourned to March 31, W. E. Mosen. Dismissed, service postponed until March 31, R. A. Physick. Dismissed, service postponed until April 30, M. L. Boden, L. F. Jensen, H. L. Tozer. Adjourned till March 31: Appeal by T. R. Barrer in respect to James M. Mosen, farm manager. Adjourned till April 30: Director of National Service for Ronald Johnstone Grant, farmer and transport driver. Appeal dismissed, service postponed till May 31: Keith Andrews, secondhand and scrap metal dealer, own appeal. (Proceeding).
