SOLDIERS’ CLUE MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Soldiers’ Club committee was held on Thursday afternoon, there being present Miss C. Keddell (controller), Mesdames A. W. Horton, E. Richards, T. Te Whaiti, Miss Higginson and Mrs J. F. Thompson (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mrs S. C. Shedden. The Controller reported that the club had been well patronised during the past month and that the soldiers had been most appreciative of the hospitality provided. Favourable comment was passed on the courtesy and helpfulness shown by all men visiting the club. A balance sheet for February showed a credit of £1 4s 4d. The secretary reported that letters of thanks had been sent to Messrs H. Trotman, C. Maxton, J. Bull and A. P. Wallis for their help in connection with the provision of kitchen facilities. Gifts of furniture, cutlery, table cloths, a ping-pong table, a sink and a gramophone, as well as cash donations amounting to £2 15s 9d had been much appreciated. It was decided to appeal for further- gifts of easy chairs, small tables, crockery, cutlery or money for the purchase of these. The Controller's action in appointing a care-taker to the club was endorsed, and provision for black-out facilities was made. TOWN HALL TONIGHT’S PICTURE. “Sunny,” one of the brightest and best musical comedies ever brought to the screen, will be shown tonight. The principal roles are in the hands of Anna Neagle, Ray Bolger, and Edward Everett Horton. It is approved for Universal Exhibition.
