ART CLUB

CRITICISM LAST EVENING. There was a good attendance of members at the Masterton Art Club’s room, Bannister Street, last night ( to hear the first criticism of the year conducted by Mr S. B. MacLennan A.R.C.A. Members present submitted a wide variety of landscapes, sketches, life, flower study, and pen-and-ink work. Mr MacLennan discussed the strong points of each work, together with its weaknesses and explained how the less successful factors could be avoided in future painting. One work of considerable merit and which drew favourable comment and much interest was a wash drawing by Mrs Ferguson of a harbour scene. All agreed that the evening had been most encouraging and helpful. The next club meeting would be hold in the Women's Division room and would take the form of a social evening with Mrs Eastwood and Mr MacLennan as host and hostess.
