STOCK MARKET

EKETAHUNA SALE COMPETITION KEEN. FIVE-YEAR EWES IN DEMAND. The Associated Auctioneers report on their weekly Eketahuna sale held yesterday as follows: —A large entry of sheep came forward and was offered to a large and representative attendance of buyers present from the Manawatu, Wairarapa and all the local districts. Competition was keen and prices for lambs were well up to those ruling at our last sale. Good mouth syr ewes showed an improvement in prices and made values in excess of those ruling at our ewe fair last week. A total clearance was effected under the hammer, and the following list will indicate values:—syr ewes, 15s, 17s 7d; sound mouth ewes, 12s, 12s 6d, to 13s Id; 6yr ewes, Bs, 9s 6d to 10s 7d; cull ewes, 6s 6d, 7s to 7s 8d; good b.f. lambs, 17s, 18s 6d to 19s; good woolly wether lambs, 16s, 16s 6d to 16s 9d; medium woolly wether lambs, 14s, 14s 6d; good shorn wether lambs, 14s 6d, 15s 6d to 16s Id: small shorn wether lambs, Ils to Ils 7d; cull shorn wether lambs, 7s to 8s 6d; shorn ewe lambs, 17s. 17s 6d to 18s 3d; woolly ewe lambs, 16s, 17s 3d to 18s 4d; small shorn ewe lambs, Ils to 12s to 13s; small woolly ewe lambs. 9s 6d to 12s 7d; 2th wethers, 18s 7d to £l. ' . Yesterday, and at the previous sale, an energetic band of local ladies served lunch and morning and afternoon tea at the saleyards. This was greatly appreciated by the local and outside buyers, with the result that the parcels for the soldiers overseas fund benefited to the extent of quite a large sum of money.
