Mrs R. D. McGregor, who has been visiting friends in Masterton has returned to Pongaroa. Mr J. Kennedy, Herbert Street, Masterton, has received official advice that his son, Sgt. A. M. Kennedy, is a prisoner of war in Germany. Mr Charles Arthur John Levett, of Feilding, died on Saturday in his 82nd year. Born in England. Mr Levett subsequently came out to New Zealand and started farming, becoming most successful as a breeder of stud Hereford cattle and Romney sheep. The death occurred suddenly yesterday in Dunedin, says a Press Association message, of Mr Malcolm Stewart, general manager for Kempthorne, Prosser. Ltd... since 1939. He formerly held the position of manager of R. W. Gunson and Co., Auckland, and later became branch manager of Wright, Stephenson and Co. in the same city. He served a term as president of the .Auckland Chamber of Commerce. The funeral this morning of the late Mrs C. C. Harding was largely attended. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Church by the Rev. Father Moore, who also conducted the service at the graveside. Among’the wreaths were those from the following: Post and Telegraph staff, staff of Messrs Hugo and Shearer, and State Kitchenette interhouse team. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. Costello, G. Wales, N. Harding, E. L. Grantham, C. Jackson and Corporal G. F. Gimblett. The funeral of the late Mr Ernest Holtham took place in Masterton yesterday, there being a large attendance of returned soldiers and members of the Masterton Bowling Club. The Rev. David McNeur officiated. Wreaths were sent by the following: President and members of the Masterton Bowling Club, teachers of Masterton Central School, Soldiers’ Club, directors of the Masterton Printing Co., staff of- the Masterton Printing Co., leaders and members of the Knox Young Women’s Bible Classes, besides many others from private sympathisers. The pallbearers were Messrs H. Bannister, L. S. Downes, W. Russell. J. B. Nicol, A. -Dickason and W. T. Snowsill. .
