EKETAHUNA
SPORT AND THE WAR A LOW EBB. (“Times-Age” Special.) Winter sport generally will be practically "dead” in Eketahuna this year, though golf will probably experience a prosperous season. The number of local soldiers serving overseas or in training in various camps has sounded the death knell of football in the district, and the position in regard to sports will become worse as married men are drafted into camp. Business Methods. Despite the war' business is keeping up well, and the shops are stocked with clean, up-to-date goods, though in some cases there is a temporary shortage in supplies and something approaching rationing has been noticeable in connection with a few lines. The excellent business methods and the faith kept by shopkeepers with their customers is attracting trade from further afield than the immediate vicinity of Eketahuna, which has always enjoyed an excellent reputation for its business methods. Visitors are repeatedly surprised to find prices often far more reasonable in Eketahuna than in much larger centres.
