ATTACKS ON MALTA

NUMBER OF AIR RAIDERS DAMAGED SUEZ CANAL BOMBED. ONE ENEMY PLANE SHOT DOWN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) RUGBY, March 3. A R.A.F. Middle East communique states: “The enemy continued to raid Malta during March 1 and 2. Our fighters intercepted on several occasions, causing considerable damage to a number of raiders. Some civilians were killed and damage was caused to property. “Enemy aircraft operated over the Suez Canal last night. Some bombs were dropped. A night fighter of the R.A.F. intercepted the enemy, and one of the raiders was shot down.”
