FALSE ALARM
SOUNDED IN LOS ANGELES ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS OPEN FIRE FOUR DEATHS IN BLACKOUT CONFUSION. ARRESTS OF ENEMY ALIENS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LOS ANGELES, February 25. During a false air-raid alarm, when it was reported that unidentified planes were seen over the city, fragments from bursting anti-aircraft shells rained down in some districts, causing some damage. One shell exploded in a garage. Four deaths were reported during confusion in the blackout. A number of Japanese were arrested for signalling with flashlights at the end of a pier. Mexico City reports that Japanese residing in the Pacific Coast area of Mexico have been ordered to move at least 100 miles inland immediately. The Federal Bureau of Investigation in New York announced that 29 Germans, Italians, and Japanese were, arrested in a series of 80 raids in Miami, Florida. Guns, ammunition, cameras, short wave transmitters, and signalling devices were confiscated. Those arrested include an Italian prince and a German countess.
