E.P.S. SERVICE

CLERGY IN CHRISTCHURCH TO DIG TRENCHES.

SHELTER FOR CHILDREN FROM SCHOOLS.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Desirous of playing their part in preparing for an emergency, certain members of the clergy in Christchurch will man picks and shovels and dig zig-zag trenches in Hagley Park, to provide shelter for children from the schools in the neighbourhood who might be evacuated to the Park. Expressing appreciation of the offer, the Mayor, Mr Andrews, said he would welcome the help in that direction of those members of the clergy and others who conscientiously objected to signing the declaration on the E.P.S. enrolment form.
