CARTERTON
WOMEN’S DIVISION CARD PARTY AND DANCE. The band room on Saturday night was filled when the weekly card party and dance in connection with the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held. The prizes for cards were won as follows: —Ladies, Mrs J. Lenihan and Mrs M. Parker; men, Messrs F. Jackson and G. Goodin. The dancers spent a most enjoyable time to music supplied by Miss M. Herrick. BOWLING ’ LADIES’ COMPETITIONS. Further games in the ladies’ singles championship have been played as follows:—Mrs Martin (one life) beat Miss Hamer (one life); Miss Armstrong (2 lives)-beat Mrs Thompson (2 lives). Personal Items, i Mr and Mrs Johnson, of Lower Hutt, were visitors to Carterton over the weekend. Mr R. W. Nunn’s friends will regret to learn that he is an inmate of the Greytown hospital. The Rev. H. White, who was formerly Methodist Minister at Carterton, is spending a holiday here. Bucket Pumps. The boxes for carrying the bucket pumps and sand for use in case of emergency have been deposited in certain parts of the town. They will, be under control of the Fire Brigade. Borough Council. The monthly meeting of the Carterton Borough Council will be held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday night. Prior to the ordinary meeting there will be a special meeting to pass a by-law dealing with the registration of dogs. REGENT THEATRE PROGRAMME TONIGHT. Tonight the sparkling musical comedy, “Sunny,” will be shown with Anna Neagle, Ray Bolger and E. E. Horton in the chief roles.
