WEEKEND BIVOUAC

C COMPANY HOME GUARD. C Company of the Masterton Home Guard will parade at the Municipal Hall tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. All ranks are requested to bring blankets, overcoat and eating utensils. Arrangements have been made to supply the necessary meals at a very low charge. Members unable to proceed tomorrow will parade at the Municipal Hall on Sunday at 8 a.m. and will bring their own lunch. The whole of the company will return to Masterton at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Should the weather necessitate a change in the programme a notice will be displayed on the Home Guard notice board, next to Messrs Carpenter and Evans, Queen Street, by 12 noon. A full attendance of all ranks is requested, especially for the whole weekend.

Shop Window Broken. A window in Mr R. Page's shop in Queen Street, Masterton, was broken at about 9.30 o’,clock last night. It is understood that six men were skylarking in the street, when one fell through Hie window. Home Guard Duties. “The desirability of passing regulations to ensure that all members of the Home Guard discharge their duties and to provide adequate personel for Home Guard units, as is done in the case of the Emergency Reserve Corps, was discussed by the War Council yesterday,” stated the Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser, last evening.
