REGARDED AS MOST CRAVE FURTHER DETAILS OF BOMBING. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Prime Minister announced late last night further details of the bombing of Darwin, the news of which is yet meagre. It is now revealed that a second raid occurred this afternoon. There were some casualties and the damage was considerable, but the reports gave no particulars. The first raid was carried out by seventy-two twinengine Japanese bombers accompanied by fighters, and the second by twenty-one twin-engine bombers. Four enemy aircraft have been brought down. He said that the Government regarded the attacks most gravely.
