JAPANESE PRESSURE SAID TO BE INCREASING. MINOR AMERICAN SUCCESS. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyrighti (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 19. A communique from the Philippine theatre states: “The enemy is increasing the pressure on our lines, particularly on the right flank. Heavy artillery fire continues. The movement of Japanese troops behind the enemy lines indicate the regrouping of the forces preliminary to the resumption of the offensive.
“In a relatively minor local action our troops captured three pieces of enemy artillery, several flame throwers. a quantity of ordnance and signal supplies. ~ “Enemy batteries on the Cavite shore continue to pound ouj> harbour defences without accomplishing much damage. The fire on Fort Frank was particularly heavy. “There is nothing to report from the other areas."
