SCOUT DISPLAYS
DEMONSTRATIONS TOMORROW AND ON SATURDAY PROGRAMME IN MASTERTON. AFTERNOON AND EVENING ATTRACTIONS. The Masterton Borough Council having granted permission to the local Scout movement to rope oil Church Street in front of St. Matthew's Scout Den, the committee has completed arrangements for the big Scout effort tomorrow and on Saturday. The programme has been drawn up as follows:— ~ All Scouts and Cubs are to assemble at St. Matthew’s Den at 3 p.m. The boys will form a horseshoe on the street for the breaking of the flag, and then led by the fire engine manned by senior Scouts, the Cubs and Scouts will parade through Queen Street to Knox Church corner, then back up to the F.C.D.C. corner, and return to the Den. . . The road will be roped oil in from of the Den, but the footpath on the Y.M.C.A. side of the street will not be closed. Here the boys will give a demonstration of fire-fighting, and this will be followed by the Cubs giving their Grand Howl. The next attraction will be building a monkey bridge across the street, together with tripod building, first aid attention, etc. on the street. Tent pitching, water boiling, the erection of a model camp and other Scout work will be carried out on the green in the Den section. A similar programme will be gone through in the evening, though the Cubs will not be included. Details of Saturday and Sunday s activities will be announced latei. The District Scoutmaster (Mr A. Allsop) addressed classes at the.various schools today on the aims and objects of Scouting.
