WINTER GREEN CROPS
LOOK OUT FOR CLUB ROOT.
When planting out the winter green crops of all types a careful watch should be kept for seedlings affected by club root or other disease. Any which show signs of the malady, which causes the roots to become swollen and distorted, must be discarded, in fact, they should be burned at once. To counteract this trouble, the ground should be well limed, and ground that was infected last season should not be planted with green crops again this season. Further control of the disease in the way of preventing infection can be obtained by watering the seedlings with a solution of meri curie chloride, one ounce dissolved in 12 gallons of water. This is poured into the planting holes when setting out the plants and about 12 days later the seedlings are again watered with the solution.
