Mrs Reid Senr., Longbush, is visiting Wellington. Mrs H. J. W. Lord, Essex Street, Masterton, is visiting Wellington. Miss Ethne Todd, Lansdowne, is staying with her sister, Mrs Gorringe, Mangaweka. Mr and Mrs J. V. Reid, Blenheim, are the guests of Mi’ and Mrs J. A. Betts, Masterton. Miss R. Robinson, Essex Street, Masterton, who has been visiting Castlepoint, has returned to Masterton. Mr and Mrs W. A. Downes, of 103 Perry Street, Masterton, are today celebrating their golden wedding. Flight Lieutenant J. M. Buckeridge, formerly chief assistant to the Controller of Civil Aviation, is recalled from the retired list for duty in the general duties branch, vzith the rank of flight lieutenant. according to an announcement in the Gazette. Mrs E. J. Inns (Wellington), who is staying with her sister, Miss Daniell, has received a cable that her son, Lieut. G. D. Inns, R.N.V.R., has been evacuated from Singapore. Lieut. Inns was a boarder at Wairarapa High School under Dr. G. H. Uttley the first year School House was opened. The funeral of the late Mrs R. N. Shaw, of Masterton, took place yesterday. Mass was celebrated at St. I Patrick’s Church by the Rev. Father | Moore, who also conducted the service at the graveside. Among the wreaths were those from the following: Teachers and children of Masterton Methodist Sunday School, Salvation Army Girls’ Club, patients of Ward 6, Masterton Hospital. The pall-bearers were Messrs L. Robinson, G. Hunter, P. H. Shaw, L. Hunter, R. Wilton and —. Wilton.
