TENTH ARMY

NO OFFICIAL INFORMATION MEANTIME.

MATTER FOR SUPREME WAR COUNCIL.

(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY, February 16.

The formation of a Tenth Army, based on Iraq and Iran, under the command of Lieut-General E. P. Quinan, reported: in agency messages from Cairo, would give General Auchinleck three' armies under his command. The Eighth Army is fighting in Cyrenaica and the Ninth is based on Syria. Authoritative quarters in London are unable to confirm this Cairo report, but, though it is no,t considered impossible, it is pointed out that the decision to create a new army would rest with the Supreme War Council in London.
