Mr and Mrs J. V. Gordon, Pownall Street, Masterton, are visiting Napier. Mr and Mrs G. Hargreaves, who have been visiting Wellington, have returned to Masterton.

Miss J. Sellar, Masterton, spent the week-end at Paraparaumu Beach. At Wanganui yesterday the death occurred of Sergeant T. F. Brenchley, of the Marton police force. He leaves a widow, one daughter and a son, who is serving with the Middle East Forces. Mrs D. Dryden, Lansdowne, is a sister. Dr. M. Gatman, of the Dunedin Public Hospital, and Dr. R. H. J. Hamlin, of the Christchurch Public Hospital, have been jointly awarded the New Zealand University medical travelling scholarship.

Advice has been received by Mr and Mrs O. C. Bennett, Hamilton, that their only son, Sub-Lieutenant Jock Bennett, Fleet Air Arm, is reported missing, believed killed, following an aircraft accident.

The death occurred at Hillside, Martinborough, yesterday, of Mrs Jemima McDonald, relict of Mr James McDonald, and mother of Mesdames Murdoch and Robert McLeod, at the age of 88 years.

Speaking at a gathering of Wairarapa and Manawatu bowlers in Masterton on Saturday, Mr J, A. Nash, president of the Manawatu Centre, referred to the splendid assistance given to bowling in the Wairarapa by Mr F. H. Dunderdale, whom he was pleased to see was still taking an active part in the game. He expressed the hope that Mr Dunderdale would accept the honour of being the patron of these intercentre visits. He presented Mr Dunderdale with a Manawatu Centre badge. Mr H. M. Smith, secretary of the Wairarapa Centre, was also presented with a badge.
