HOME GUARD

MASTERTON BATTALION MOBILISATION ARRANGEMENTS. CLASSES, PARADES & OTHER ACTIVITIES. Routine orders for the Masterton Battalion of the Home Guard, issued by Major A. L. Hibbs, D.C.M., are: — Classes: N.C.O. class, Tuesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Hall. Parades: Tomorrow, A Coy. at Drill Hall at 8 a.m. Pick and/or shovel, lunch and mug required. C Coy., at Municipal Hall at 2 a.m. Lunch and mug required. Petrol guards at respective petrol stations. No. 1 Ptn. at 9 a.m. and No. 2 Ptn. at 10 a.m. H.Q. (including petrol guards), A and C companies: Parade at respective Drill hall on Thursday, February 19, at 7 p.m. Other centres will adhere to individual arrangements. 1 Range practice schedule: Tomorrow, at 10 a.m. at Tinui; Sunday, February 22, at 9 a.m., at Opaki Rifle Range, Rangitumau, Kopuaranga, Mt. Bruce, Te Ore Ore and Bideford Platoons; Sunday, February 29, at 10 a.m., at Homewood. To be arranged: Wainuioru and Mauriceville. Particulars regarding battalion mobilisation: Warning affecting town companies: Sirens, stationery and portable, including Dairy Co., Gas Works, and Waingawa Works sirens, 10 second blasts with 5 seconds intervals for 2 minutes. All clear: Two minutes continuous. Company commanders will submit to battalion headquarters detailed reports regarding mobilisation arrangements of respective companies. Every man will immediately get and keep in readiness and will bring with him on mobilisation, the following:— Haversack, 2 blankets, waterproof coat or sheet, great coat and woollen pullover or cardigan, knife, fork, plate, spoon and mug, change of underclothes and sox, soap and towel, knife and string, rations for at least 24 hours. (Sample rations would be: 1 tin meat, 2 packets biscuits, chocolate, dates or raisins), bottle of water. The above articles are to be got and kept together in instant readiness, as mobilisation must be carried out without delay. Revolvers or pistols: Revolvers or pistols are required urgently to secure issue of practice ammunition. Those who have these arms or can procure them are to send particulars to Battalion Headquarters immediately. The public are invited to assist in supplying same. Transfers, promotions and appointments:— C Coy.: C.S.M. McChesney to be No. 10 Ptn. Commander. D Coy.: L. W. Wilton to be Cpl., M. Wilton to be Cpl. F Coy.: P. H. Paku and Wilson Paku, dresser and stretcher bearers, to be Cpls.; L/Cpl. T. Remine to relinquish rank of L/Cpl.; T. Haeata and G. Pura to be L/Cpls. Marched in: Twenty-two recruits. Marched out:—C Coy.: L. Liddington to Carterton Home Guard; J. R. Hall to E.P.S. F Coy.: R. K. Cole and G. W. Napier, to camp; G. Flint and C. Combe, left district; L/Cpl. T. To Huki to I.M.R’s.
