KOPUARANGA

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute was held yesterday afternoon in the local hall. The president,/Mrs Jarratt presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames C. C. Jackson, Kenny, Costello, Moss, McArthur, E. R. Welch and Munn. The treasurer’s report showed a satisfactory credit balance. A social gathering was then held to celebrate the 21st birthday of the Dominion Federation. The president welcomed visitors who included members of the Mauriceville and Mt. Bruce Women’s Institutes and past members, and gave a brief outline of the Women’s Institute movement. The secretary read a report of the Women's Institute movement from its initiation, and the history of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute since its formation seven years ago. A recitation by Mrs R. Miller was much appreciated. Competitions were won by Mrs W. J. Cotter, and Miss M. Wright. A display of handwork by members proved most interesting. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames O’Connor and Trass.
