British Warships Aiding Defenders (By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, February .12. Reports state that the British infantry, supported by artillery, drove back the Japanese in fierce counter attacks from several points north of the city of'Singapore. A Tokio radio claims the complete mastery of the main fortifications on the island. Powerful Japanese units have launched an offensive against the British resistance around the water reservoir in the central part of the island. Japanese units, it is claimed in the radio, are entering Singapore from the south and have prevented the evacuation of the British forces. The Domei agency says that British warships are aiding the defenders of Singapore in their fierce resistance.
